Vintage is ALWAYS green…and more and more celebrities are embracing environmentally friendly fashions in their daily lives AND on the red carpet. But at last night’s Oscar ceremony, it was Emma Roberts who was most passionate about bringing attention to sustainable fashion in her “vintage” Armani gown. We enjoyed watching her use her celebrity in the most brilliant way: to generate change.

Emma Roberts in a 2005 (not quite vintage, but green!) Armani Privé gown. By recycling this dress, she saved more than 10,000 gallons of water, 1/2 pound of fertilizers, 4 ounces of pesticides and 6 pounds of carbon emissions. And she looked great!

Halle Berry, always gorgeous, In Versace. BEST.

Taraji P. Henson’s Alberta Ferretti gown was simple and stunning. BEST.

Felicity Jones in pale, bland, ill-fitting Dior made her look like a music box ballerina. WORST.

This Elie Saab just had too much going on for Janelle Monae. WORST.

Classy minimalist couple Trudie Styler and Sting. BEST.

Another classy pair, Leslie Mann (in Zak Posen) and Judd Apatow. BEST.

The worst trend at the Oscars was the skinny suit. I was thrilled that Casey Affleck won, but sad that he could not move his arms. He wasn’t the only one.

Viggo Mortensen’s straightjacket I mean suit was by Dior.
